What is D&D?
D&D, often refered to as "The World's Greatest Roleplaying Game," is, by a large margin, the most popular ttrpg (tabletop roleplaying game) ever created. At its core, D&D is cooperative storytelling game, providing a set of rules for the players and the game master to use in order to weave tales of fantasy and wonder. While D&D is most suited to a fantasy setting, it can be used to tell almost any story you can think of, from sci-fi epics to detective short stories.
D&D Beyond
The publishers of D&D (a subsidiary of Hasbro named Wizards of the
Coast) released a website in 2017 known as D&D Deyond. A digital;
collection of all the D&D sourcebooks, monster statblocks and adventures;
character creation system; community forum and encounter building and
mapmaking tool. It massively simplifies character creation, reduces the
amount of equipment that you have to carry around to play D&D and lowers
the bar of entry to get into the hobby. The digital sourcebooks are also sold
for cheaper than their physical counterparts, though many still prefer
having an actual book
