Purpose The purpose of the website is to inform people about the unique and quirky celebrations that occur throughout the year. By highlighting these special days, for example, World Blood Donor Day, the website can provide a resource for learning about different cultures, traditions, and historical events. This information can be used as an educational tool and a source of entertainment, which can add to our understanding of the world and nurture a sense of global community. Potential Users The potential users are anyone interested in learning about these days that are related to different interests, hobbies, or cultural traditions. The group of potential users this website is focused on are aged between 14 - 18 years old. Requirements The website is required to provide the following: should be easy to use the information must be easy to find accessible to people who may have disabilities such as partial vision or colour blindness. Specifications The website specifications are: At least four linked web pages A home page explaining what the website is about All web pages have a header, a footer, navigation, and body text styled using an external CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) file. One image per webpage that is consistent with the design Suitable colours that work well together Clear titles and subheadings that are easily identifiable Displays consistently in two different browsers Research Through research I found that using colors that are easy to see, like black on white or white on black, can help people with vision problems read things better online. The strong contrast makes the text stand out and provides better visibility and readability. Tools & Techniques I used the following tools and techniques to complete the website: Visual studio code for the coding Google Chrome Developer Tool for testing Google Fonts website Colour blind website HTML Validatior for testing CSS Validatior for testing W3 Schools website I used the following techniques to complete the website: Commented the HTML & CSS files Validated all the HTML & CSS files and fixed all the errors Tested the website using different browsers Checked all images have an alt tag with information about the image Used the Google Chrome Developer tool to trial live CSS settings before making permanent changes Testing & Trialling Having the navigation at the top of the webpages makes the website easy to use. The colour combinations of the headings and navigation makes finding information easy. Text is easy to read as the font size and font colours stand out on the light coloured background. Fit for Purpose I am confident the website is fit for purpose because of the following reasons. 1. The layout makes the information easy to use. Potential users are already familiar with navigating around websites when the navigation is at the top of the web page. The user feedback confirmed they could easily navigate the website. 2. Information easy to find. I used a light font colour with a dark background colour combination that made the text easy to read. The user feedback confirmed they could find information easily. 3. I set the font family to Open Sans with a font weight of 400 to make the text easy to read. This allowed potential isers that have impaired vision to access the information. 4. I tested the website for different colour blindness to test the information is accessable.
