Standing up on a wave
To first practise standing up on a wave you will need to start somewhere easier. The easiest way to learn to
pop up on your surfboard is to find a spot on your floor and lay dowqn on your tummy, then pushing off your arms, jump up and land in a squatted position
facing sideways and looking forwards. Great you have now learned to pop up. Now what you want to do is go into the surf and find the spot where the waves are already
broken and hold your surfboard and wait for a wave that is small and broken. Now lay on your belly on the surfboard and start paddling to the beach looking behind you at the
broken wave, when you feel the wave start to push you, stop paddling and pop up onto your feet like you did on the floor. Standing up on a wave is not easy so your not going to get it first try
because it is wobbly and unbalanced but practice makes perfect.
Now once you have mastered the pop up on the white water you can paddle out a bit further to the waves that are unbroken and wait for a nice wave
that is peaking like an A, when that comes through you can turn your board around and start paddling to the shore again, but this time on a bit of an
angle sideways away from the wave, when this wave is pushing you pop up with some explosiveness. Unbroken waves are harder than white water wave,
but you will stand up after practice.
