How teams work

In the Tour de France all riders rely heavily on their teams. By using a method called drafting it allows riders to do less work while maximizing saving energy.The way this works is a team will put there greatest rider behind their teamates so that using slipstream he can save energy for the end of the race. Another reason teams do this is to keep there main rider safe from crashes that usually occur near the back of the peleton.

Greatest teams

UAE Team Emirates is arguably known as the greatest current cycling team in the world. Team leader Tadej Pogacar and his trusty teamate Del Toro finsished 1st and 3rd in the general classification. All teams have a certain budeget for a season. Top teams like Visma Lease a Bike and Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe are sitting on around $100 million a year but UAE Team Emirates has the highest budget of around $110 million which goes torwards anything between riders salaries and general race expenses.
