Surfing.

The World Surf League (WSL) as founded in 1976 and has been responsible for crowning professional surfing world champions since then. It began as an organisation focused on professional surfing and has grown into a worldwide competition, with events held in countries across different continents. Today, the WSL runs major competitions such as the Championship Tour, where the world’s best male and female surfers compete for World Championship titles.

Surfers progress through a tiered global system before reaching the pinnacle of the sport. Athletes start in regional Qualifying and Junior Series events, advance into the Challenger Series, and strive to qualify for the elite Championship Tour (CT), where the world titles are decided. Stops take place at iconic global breaks—from the heavy barrels of Teahupo'o in Tahiti to the high-performance cobblestones of Lower Trestles in California
