Origin of the VNL
The VNL started officially in 2018, created by Fédération Internationale
de Volleyball, or FIVB. The VNL isn't the first international volleyball
tournament, and was created as a successor to the FIVB World League and
the World Grand Prix. The first womens and mens
tournaments
took place in May - July. The first ever VNl final was held in Lille,
France, where Russia beat France in the final, winning the first
inaugural VNL tournament.

How is the VNL special?
The VNL separates itself from the other volleyball tournaments
because it collects the 18 top national teams per gender into
a single, very high intensity global league. Plus the VNL is
free to air so everyone can watch it even in their own homes.
The VNL also has a massive prize pot for the winning team, as
they get an $1 million reward.
