While most wolf packs tend to have a restricted diet, the swimming wolves exhibit an extremely diverse one, which consists not only of terrestrial animals but also includes fish caught from the sea. Even though the wolves do prey on deer and other small animals, a substantial part of their diet involves eating marine organisms like salmon during spawning periods, shellfish and seals.

They are influenced by the environment that they live in. The wolves have a swimming ability and can swim for long distances from one island to another through strong water flows. They are also intelligent animals and adapt themselves to changes in weather patterns and availability of prey.
