Schindlers list, directed by Stephen Spielberg, is a Biopic movie of the Nazi businessman, Oskar Schindler(Liam Neeson). The film tells the story of Oskar's moral transformation from supporting the Nazi's, to attempting to save as many Jews as possible through recruiting them through his business. The movie masterfully portraysthe holocaust through characters like Amon Goeth(Ralph Finnes) and Itzhak Sern(Ben Kingsley) and events like the Liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto and Jewish life at concentration camps. The movie portrays the harsh reality of what the Jews suffered through during the events of WW2 and the Holocaust. Schindler's list is a masterrfully told biopic that gives masterful and realistic details into the time period, along with being one of the highest regarded movies of all time.
Forrest Gump, directed by Robert Zemeckis, is a story about the intellectually challenged character of the same name, as he lives his life. Forrest Gump(Tom Hanks) is an inperational story that centers around the theme of living your life to the fullest no matter who you are. We follow Forrest through his childhood, career as an athelete, military service in the Vietnam War, becoming the CEO of a shrimp company, his cross country run. Forrest Gump is a movie about letting life happen and taking every oppurtunity that you come across.
The Shawshank Redemption, based on the Stephen King story and directed by Frank Darbont, is the highest rated movie on IMDB, which is the most well accepted movie rating website. The plot follows a distraught, drunk, banker, Andy Dufresne(Tim Robbins), in the late 40s, who is accused and found guilty on two counts of first degree murder towards his wife and her lover and is thus sent to Shawshank Penitentiary. Andy is left to find his way around prison and get used to the prison life over the course of several years. Andy meets a fellow inmate called Red(Morgan Freeman). Through loopholes, Andy is able to live a secure and respected life in prison by taking advantage of the staff's finance problems and laundering their money using his elite banking skills. The Shawshank Redemption is narrated by Red, Morgan Freeman’s best performance which is what the movie is most famous for. The themes of the movie revolves hope, where in the darkest and most hopeless scenarios, there is always a brighter outcome; as well as friendship and the trust it’s built on. Another theme which the movie tackles is industrialization, shown through the memorable character Brooks. The Shawshank Redemption is an outstanding movie that tackles deep and important themes, has memorable characters, deep film language and golden acting which will definitely be worth watching.
